Orchestra to present 'Classic Romantics'

Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra presents Classic Romantics on Jan. 20. Classic Romantics, a program of celebrated pieces demonstrating the balance between classic clarity and romantic passion, will feature the music of Brahms, Mendelssohn and Ravel.

The Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra is comprised of many members who are local residents – some of whom are students – who share their talents and help expose the region to a high quality of music.

Ozark Mountain Jamboree Jan. 20

Relax in a comfortable and warm indoor setting while tapping your feet to a mixture of Bluegrass and Country music during the Ouachita Mountain Jamboree.

The free event will take place Jan. 20 at the Rich Mountain Community College Student Center in Mena.

Monster trucks take over Alltel Arena

Monster Jam (Monster Trucks) will be at Alltel Arena at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday Jan. 26 and 27. The Arena will be the site for the maximum destruction when the 10,000 pound monsters roll into town for two days of non-stop action. Don’t miss the all-star lineup of trucks as World Champion Grave Digger dominates over Black Stallion, Blacksmith, Iron Warrior, and more.

High school offers Valentine cakes

Simply Delicious Restaurant at North Pulaski High School is taking orders for Valentine Sweetheart cakes available in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry and iced with buttercream frosting for only $5 each. Cakes can be personalized with a message with up to 12 letters. To place an order stop by the restaurant during school hours or call 241-2260. The deadline to order is Friday, Feb. 9.

Toltec Mounds hosting Artifact Identification Day

Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park hosts Artifact Identification Day Jan. 27. Bring discoveries to the park visitor center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and let the resident archeologist examine them. Up to five prehistoric artifacts to be reviewed are allowed; no appraisals will be given. Admission is the regular park fee: $3 for adults, $2 per child ages 6-12.
