Retreat today

The 314th Airlift Wing is hosting a Veterans Day retreat ceremony at 1:30 p.m. today at Heritage Park. Gov. Mike Beebe will be the guest speaker.

All Airmen not performing mission-essential or command-directed duties are required to attend in their uniform of the day to pay respect to our veterans past and present.

Parking will be limited and lots adjacent to Heritage Park will be closed for distinguished visitors and community guests.
Base personnel attending the event are highly encouraged to car pool and must park in other locations such as the conference center, TCAC or dinning facility lots.


Giving Thanks for Our Freedom dinner Nov. 13

Giving Thanks for Our Freedom, a free dinner for all families of Team Little Rock service members who are deployed, on remote tours of duty or on an extended TDY, will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Thomas Community Activity Center.

There will be family activities and door prizes. Contact the chapel at 987-6014, the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 987-6801 or your first sergeant to sign up. Deadline is Nov. 1.


Thanksgiving service slated for Nov. 21

An Ecumenical Thanksgiving service and pie social will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 21 in the Base Chapel. Please bring a pie to share at the social immediately following the service in the Chapel Annex.


Retirement scheduled

A retirement ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Nov. 19 at Hangar 1080 for Master Sgt. John Monroe.


Estate claim

Anyone having claims or indebtedness to the estate of Tech. Sgt. Aaron McCoy, 62nd Airlift Squadron, should contact Capt. Bryan Aulner, summary court officer, at 987-5079 or 501-442-6435.


Joint Intro program for new arriving spouses

All newly arrived spouses are cordially invited to attend our Joint Intro program, formerly called “Right Start” from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Thomas Community Activities Center, bldg 868 across from the chapel.

Each spouse attending will receive a special welcome package  designed specifically for them with lots of information concerning resume and jobs, Heart Link (Air Force Spouse Orientation), child care, community interest, etc.

The following are dates of our upcoming Joint Intro Nov. 14, 21 and 28 and Dec. 5, 12, and 19. Please call Airman and Family Readiness Flight 987-6801 to reserve a seat now.


Coordinator, committee members sought

The Military Equal Opportunity Office is looking for a program coordinator and committee members for the 2008 Martin Luther King, Jr Birthday, and Black History Month Observances.

The Little Rock AFB Special Observance Program is a wing program carried out by special observance committees.
These committees come together for a limited time to plan, organize, and execute events and activities for DoD recognized special observances.

The LRAFB special observance committees are not private organizations and any person assigned to Little Rock AFB (i.e. active duty, retiree, family member, DoD civilian) has an opportunity to be appointed Program Coordinator and participate as a member of any special observance committee.

The meeting will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7 the MEO classroom, bldg 842, behind the Education building.


Retirement slated

A retirement ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Nov. 13 in the 53rd Conference Room for Master Sgt. Earl Sadewasser from the 53rd Airlift Squadron.


Training offered

The 314th Logistics Readiness Squadron offers training on the following subjects: Block I, General Supply Indoctrination, Block IIA, Bench Stock Management, Block IIB Repair Cycle Management, Block III Equipment Management, and Deployed equipment Management Training. DRMO free issue

The Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office is a source of supply for reusing assets that have becom surplus to the need of the DOD, and they are free issue.

There must be a valid unit requirement. If the items are accountable pieces of equipment coordination with unit equipment custodians is required to determine if there is an authorization to have the equipment.

TMO holiday schedule

The holiday season is fast approaching; so, if you are departing Little Rock AFB, keep in mind that our local movers are closed on Holidays. Specifically, local agents and carriers won’t be providing any pack, pick-up, or delivery services on Nov. 22-23 and Dec. 24-25. Please come by the Traffic Management Office, Bldg 1255, or call at 987-3582 to schedule services around these days.

Cub Scouts to hold food drive Nov. 17

The Airman and Family Readiness Center needs your support this holiday season. The Little Rock AFB Cub Scouts Pack 170 will be sponsoring a food drive at the Commissary from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. The troop will be onsite to provide you a list of much needed items for our military families. Donations will be accepted as you leave the Commissary. Commissioning Briefing slated

The November Commissioning Briefing will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 15 in Bldg 842, Rm 110. Bring a notebook and pen. No appointment is necessary. For details call 987-3417.
